Meet the Future Leaders: Josh Cahan

Welcome! Well, the new class is here and are getting acclimated to life at McLean Bible Church. We’ll be doing a series of blogs to help you better get to know the Future Leader Class of 2010. Today we’re highlighting Josh Cahan, who works with Frontline Ministry Teams.

I never dreamed about working at a church. I wanted to go to law school or work in government or run political campaigns. I was in school at American University pursuing a degree in political science and interning for government agencies, political consultants, and law firms. Vocational ministry was the furthest thing from my mind. That is, until I stopped telling God what I wanted from Him and started asking God what He wanted from me.

God really got a hold of my life last year. Before that point in time, I was living for myself and my dreams and my future. I wanted to be rich, important, and powerful. Last year, God showed me that I needed to live for Him and not for me. And for the first time, I sincerely promised God that I’d go where He sends me. I got involved with The Gathering, McLean Bible Church’s college ministry. And as I grew in Christ, He began to direct my heart towards this Future Leaders program. By the time the application was due, I knew without a doubt that God wanted me here at this church, in this program. I don’t know what the future will hold, but I do know that I’m now living for God and not for me.
