Meet the Future Leaders: Rachael Jankowsky

Welcome! Well, the new class is here and are getting acclimated to life at McLean Bible Church. We’ll be doing a series of blogs to help you better get to know the Future Leader Class of 2010. Today we’re highlighting Rachael Jankowsky, who works with Frontline Silver Spring, one of Frontline’s Community Campuses.

It’s been a long journey to the Future Leaders Program for me…four years in the making, actually. And looking back, it’s so clear to see how God has directed my steps to get me here.

While deciding what I wanted to study in college, there came a desire to study Anthropology (the study of man) in order to use it to build His Church. So, after God opened and shut different doors, I ended up moving from Colorado to the District in 2005 to study Anthropology at American University. While there, I got involved with the college ministry of McLean Bible Church, The Gathering. It was the right place for me to be involved in the body of Christ for so many different reasons, and being a part of that ministry really defined my college experience. After being a student leader and co-director for a few years, it made a lot of sense to go into the Future Leaders Program after graduating this past May. But it ended up being a difficult decision because…

In the summer of ’08 a friend and I went to Haiti to jumpstart a partnership between The Gathering and World Hope International. After considering going back immediately after graduation, God put it on my heart to wait before making a move in any direction. So the Future Leaders Program presented itself as a chance for a year of preparation while waiting on the Lord.

I know I am to be involved in ministry, but I’m waiting to learn in what venue He would have me walk that out. I’m so excited to see what God has to teach me this year as I learn more about how to lead people towards Him. And what a great opportunity to grow while He shows me more of the details of what He would have me do!
