I have had the privilege of serving on two mission trips since starting in the Future Leaders Program. My first trip to Zambia in December 2008 was much different than the FLP trip to Rwanda this past February. The main difference being our formation of intentional relationships with the staff of World Relief Rwanda. My buddy is an American missionary named Myal Greene. He has been in Rwanda for over two years as a liaison between churches in the U.S. that have formal partnerships with World Relief Rwanda.
As I shadowed Myal for nearly two weeks, I got a great glimpse into his lifestyle as we attended church together, went grocery shopping and hung out as his house. It was great to see how he has adapted into living very much like a person from Rwanda. I really respect Myal for his courage to deny himself and to follow Jesus all the way to Rwanda (Matthew 16:24-25). He has lived faithfully to his call into mission work through his devotion to the Lord’s work (1 Corinthians 15:58).
In all, Myal has been a tremendous example to me and has encouraged me to trust the Lord with all my heart (Proverbs 3:5) and to remember Colossians 1:12-14.
Joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son.
