During my recent trip to Rwanda, I had the privilege of spending some time with my buddy Ngoga. He is on staff at World Relief and works in the field of church mobilization. We would meet together in the mornings to talk about each others lives and to spend time in prayer.
One Sunday I got to spend the whole day with him. In the morning he came and picked me up and we went to a worship service specifically for people who had gone through the genocide. The worship service met every other Sunday and was organized by a ministry that Ngoga had helped start about eight years ago. It was wonderful to watch these people passionately worship and praise God for all the things had been doing in their lives.
After the service Ngoga invited me to his house for lunch. His wife cooked a wonderful meal and I ate more than a boy my size should. It was delicious! I really enjoyed meeting his family and spending time in his home, which he built himself. I was able to see how hard work pays off through my buddy and was encouraged by his passion for the Lord and the people in Rwanda.
I’m glad I was able to spend some time with Ngoga and I hope to visit him and his family in Rwanda sometime again in the future!
