Who are the Future Leaders, really? In order to help you get to know us beyond the basic information on the bio page, we’ll be doing this series of Q & A posts over the next several months. Hopefully these questions will help you get to know who the 2009 Future Leaders really are!
In this post, Mark Hallman talks about Global Impact and some of the fun places he’s been.
Describe yourself in 50 words or less
I was born in Waterloo, Ontario and raised in Buffalo, NY.
How did you accept Christ?
I grew up in the church and accepted Christ into my heart when I was 16, but I it took 6 more years until I was 22 for the Lord to break me so that I would pursue him feverishly.
What is Global Impact, and what are some of the things you do?
I work with Global Impact, which is the short-term missions ministry of Frontline. My favorite part of my job is co-leading a two-week mission trip to Zambia! I also am working to structure three to four-day serving opportunities in Washington, D.C. called Intencity.
What would you like to be doing in 10 years?
Teaching the Word of God.
What are some other jobs you’ve had in your life?
I have worked at a chicken farm, nursing home kitchen (puréed roast beef anyone?), tent rental company, golf camp and energy consulting company.
What is the most important thing you’ve learned in the Future Leaders Program so far?
God wants my heart intimately, not simply my service. I am also starting to understand what real servant leadership looks like.
What’s been the best experience you’ve had during the Future Leaders Program?
Hands down, co-leading the Zambia team.
What’s on your iPod right now?
Lon Soloman, Mark Driscoll, Jerry Gillis, Selah, Michael Jackson and Chris Tomlin.
What is your favorite food?
Fajitas and burritos, but I had some amazing ribs last night, so maybe ribs. And turkey gravy. And gummy bears. Not together.
What are your favorite movies?
Home Alone 1, Dumb and Dumber, Syriana, and although it is not a movie I really love the Three Stooges.
What exciting places have you been?
I took a two-week road trip around the entire U.S. with two friends from high school at the beginning of the summer. I have also been to Siberia, Russia for a summer, and Vietnam for a semester.
Thanks Mark!
