“It was great to see Christians in a place you wouldn’t normally think to find them, hanging out and wearing their faith on their sleeves.”
-Scott Clattenburg, Class of 2009 Future Leader
Core Value #4 for McLean Bible Church is “Ministry and evangelism must be carried out in a relevant way.” As Future Leaders we spend a large amount of time learning how the Core Values guide us as a church in carrying out our mission. Core Value #4 is about finding relevant and innovative ways to reach Washington, and not many people do that better than the team over at Frontline Arlington. Future Leaders Scott Clattenburg and Katelyn Steaffens work for Frontline Arlington, learning what it takes to run a community campus and getting to work at pretty much everything that involves.
Not much is more relevant right now than the Summer Olympics, and last Monday dozens of people came after the service to check out the Olympics at the Frontline Arlington viewing party at a local grill and bar in Arlington. A couple of us other Future Leaders came out to hang out with them and it was pretty cool to see them coming up with a relevant way to do ministry.
One of the challenges we face is finding ways to meet people where they are, both spiritually and physically. That’s why as a church we are big on leaving the four walls of the church building and going to where people are in real life. Scott, Katelyn and the rest of the Frontline Arlington team are a great example of that spirit. If you’re around the Arlington area on a Monday night be sure to stop by the Rosslyn Spectrum at 7:30 to check them out!
